Turns over the years
Seventeen Years, Told as Turns
Torque was born inside School of Leadership in 2008 as a corporate outlet for budding trainers. What follows is the organisation’s own account of how it got from there to here.
2008
We take birth at School of Leadership
Umair Jaliawala envisions a corporate outlet for budding trainers like himself. Torque reaches out to the top 100, demoing at many places and developing its own ways of turning people on. Some success.
2009
The tribe increases
Powered by Urooj Mazhar, Saquib Niaz and Faizan Malik. The Torque wings extend to Trainers Resource Group and The Indus Entrepreneurs Karachi. The clients include top multinationals, and we are no less than a pleasant surprise.
2010
A full-fledged team
Torque momentum continues, becoming a full team ready to take on bigger work.
2011
Into pharmaceuticals
We cement our feet with key players in pharma, touching clients like Novartis and GSK.
2012
Torque goes global
We excel at an international assignment with tyre sales in Malaysia.
2013
Automobiles and FMCG
Extensive work with the automobile industry (Indus Motors, Suzuki and more) and FMCGs (Unilever, Nestlé), and we curate and deliver one-of-a-kind projects like Smilestones for Pak Suzuki.
2014
A retail burst
The turning tribe spreads to the fashion industry. Happy clients at Khaadi, J., Sana Safinaz.
2015
Into philanthropy
We break into enhancing philanthropic organisations such as the Aga Khan Development Network.
2016
The wheel spins faster
Fresh faces join the tribe and momentum reaches another level. Torque connects with the telecoms — Jazz, Telenor, Zong — and turns them towards digital learning and transformation.
2017
Digital breakthrough
A year-long Value Roll Out project with a leading denim manufacturer, and e-learning modules for the newly launched LMS portal of a leading name in the energy sector.
2018
A decade, and a year of celebrations
We launch Expotential after staying strong in the industry for ten years, and expand into pharma with the launch of Torque Pharma Academy — a step towards international markets and foreign clients.
2019
North, central, and beyond
Team strategic meetings set the direction. We expand across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, entering the north and central regions of Pakistan and beyond. Some success has turned into constant success.
2020
Hybrid by necessity, then by design
Culture, wellbeing and change programmes run through the pandemic on Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx and StreamYard, with Moodle behind them. Blended delivery stops being an experiment and becomes a standing capability.
2022
Retail and telecom at national scale
Nationwide retail training for Outfitters Stores, and multi-city delivery for Jazz across Karachi, Islamabad and Faisalabad.
2024
Simulation-based learning for foodpanda
Simulation-based training and event management across Karachi and Lahore — learning designed as an experience rather than a session.
2025
UNICEF and Zong
Facilitation of UNICEF Pakistan's all-staff retreat — team cohesion, CRITAS values and trust-building — and Synergy Sprint 2025 for Zong (CMPak), Torque's largest single engagement to date.
2026
Seventeen years, still turning
Siemens Healthineers in Lahore opens the year. More than 500 clients, 27 industries, and a tribe that now spans trainers, facilitators, speakers, coaches, hosts and performers.
The anchors
Three Programmes That Set the Footprint

A pan-Pakistan sales and service upliftment programme covering urban and rural dealer owners and 1,000+ frontline staff, designed and delivered for three consecutive years, and an industry benchmark since.

Corporate training and facilitation through 2025 for Zong (CMPak) — Torque's largest single engagement in seventeen years.
Nationwide
Outfitters Stores
Retail training across the store network, taking one standard of service to shop floors in every region at once.
