Coaching
Torque Coaching guides people to become more self-aware, and to realise the potential that was already there — one to one, or a team working on itself together.
Most coaching goals arrive already solved in the person's head — they want help executing a decision they have not examined. We slow that down. The examination is the work; the plan usually writes itself afterwards.
Executives carrying something they cannot say inside their own organisation. High potentials about to step up a level. Founders who have nobody to think out loud with. And managers whose 360 said something they did not expect.
The first conversation is free and has no agenda except finding out whether the two of you can work together. If we are not the right coach, we will say so and, where we can, point you to someone who is.
We do not report on you to the person paying. The sponsor gets themes and progress against agreed goals — never content. That boundary is in our Code, and it is the reason coaching works at all.
The method
Five stages, and the coach does not skip one because the coachee is impatient to get to the plan.
Goals set together, and set specifically. It is what gives the coaching a direction rather than a mood.
Where you actually are: the resources, the strengths, the weaknesses, and the obstacles standing between here and there.
Options, out loud, before any of them is chosen. Several routes to the same goal, thought about properly.
A plan you commit to — the actions, the timelines, and an honest list of what is likely to get in the way.
Staying accountable after the interesting part is over. Adapting what is not working. This is the stage most coaching skips.
