Mind & Heart

Who It Is For

  • Product, service, operations and innovation teams
  • Cross-functional groups stuck on the same problem
  • Organisations whose ideas die in the slide deck

How It Runs

  • One to two days, in person; the room needs walls and materials
  • Run on a live problem of yours, end to end
  • English and Urdu

What It Turns On

  1. 01

Watch and listen to a user rather than survey them.

  2. 02

Define the real problem before the room starts solving the first one.

  3. 03

Generate badly and widely before choosing narrowly.

  4. 04

Build something rough enough to be criticised this week.

The broad outline

  1. 01

    In context

Your problem as currently stated, and the quiet assumption sitting inside the statement.

  2. 02

    Know

The five moves: empathise, define, ideate, prototype, test. And why the order matters more than the vocabulary.

  3. 03

    Go

Empathy work with real users. Then defining the problem again, properly, now that somebody has listened.

  4. 04

    Show

Ideation without judgement, then prototypes built in the room from paper, cardboard and role-play — and tested on somebody who did not build them.

  5. 05

    Close

What you learned that you did not expect, and the next test.

What You Are Left Holding

  • Your problem, redefined after listening
  • Rough prototypes, tested
  • The next test, dated
